If you had told me in 2014 that one day I would start my own education consultancy, I probably wouldn't have believed you.

 

In July 2014, just two weeks after my 23rd birthday, I left the Philippines and moved to Dubai with a suitcase, a few years of work experience, and a lot of uncertainty about what the future would bring.

 

Like many overseas workers, I wasn't chasing luxury. I was chasing opportunity.

 

Before moving to the UAE, I had worked in the Philippines' growing BPO industry. What started as a job eventually became a valuable learning experience, teaching me communication, sales, customer service, and the importance of building relationships. Looking back, those early years gave me skills that would help shape my future career.

 

When I arrived in Dubai, life didn't instantly fall into place. There were interviews, rejections, trial periods, and moments when I questioned whether I had made the right decision. But every challenge taught me something.

 

My breakthrough came when I joined a training institute in Bur Dubai. For the first time, I found myself working closely with people who wanted to improve their lives through education. Every student had a story. Some wanted promotions. Some needed professional certifications. Others were preparing for university admissions, migration opportunities, or career changes.

 

I realized that education was much more than classrooms and certificates. It was often the bridge between where someone was and where they wanted to be.

 

Over the next decade, I continued working in the UAE education sector, supporting thousands of students and professionals from different backgrounds, nationalities, and ambitions. I worked with language schools, training providers, and international education organizations. Along the way, I earned teaching and counselling qualifications, expanded my understanding of global education, and developed a genuine passion for helping people achieve their goals.

 

One of the greatest rewards of this journey has been the people I have met. Former students have gone on to build successful careers, move to new countries, enter universities, and achieve dreams they once thought were out of reach. Some have even become lifelong friends.

 

As my experience grew, so did a question in my mind:

 

What if I could create something of my own?

 

Not because I wanted to be different from the organizations I worked for, but because I wanted to bring together everything I had learned over the years and offer a more personal approach to student guidance.

 

That question became Gilly Gateway.

 

Gilly Gateway was founded on a simple belief: every student deserves honest advice, clear information, and someone who genuinely cares about their future.

 

I know what it feels like to take a leap into the unknown. I know what it feels like to start from scratch, adapt to a new environment, and search for the next opportunity.

 

That is why helping others find their path is more than a profession for me—it is something deeply personal.

 

The journey that brought me to Dubai changed my life.
